Francis Black per Hadlow occupied a skilling at Robert Youngs house. Ordered to open his door by Chief Constable Calvert and when he refused Calvert broke it open. Black did not deny beating a woman but said he was drunk. James Calvert had seen the woman at her own house which adjoined Blacks skilling. Her face was covered with bruises. She said Black had been beating her. Francis Black sentenced to sleep in the barracks until further notice
